Change of U. S. – Obama ; Change of Pope – ? ?

November 19th, 2008 Posted in Pope | No Comments »

The win of Obama is the success of U. S. people. The people who expect change in U. S., elect Mr. Obama which is appreciated by the whole world.

The world expects the reflection of Obama’s win in Vatican.

In the Catholic Church, there are men and women ascetics. But, the right to conduct the church liturgy is given only to the priests. Though there had been requests to allow nuns to conduct the liturgy, the Catholic Church has been refusing the requests till now.

The previous Pope John Paul II did not give the right to the nuns to function as priestesses and also reprimanded all the other Christian sects, which allowed women to be the priestesses.

The Protestant Christian Church had made women as priestesses and bishopesses, which was criticized by the Pope as against Christian religious doctrine and explained that according to the Bible, women were not equal to men.

The present Pope Benedict XVI, is following the conservative policy of Pope John Paul II, and made it very clear that there is no place for women priestesses in the Catholic Churches.

As the right to conduct liturgy has not been given to nuns, the nuns are refused the posts of priestess, bishopess, archbishop, cardinal and Pope. At present, all these posts are only offered to priests.

The Catholic Church clergy are on one side preaching to the people that women should be given equality and on the other side they are keeping them in the second place, which shows the dual nature of the Church. This should be understood by all the Catholic Christians and particularly by the women.

Though the clergy of the Catholic Church have all the power and authority, instead of breaking all the hurdles, which affect the social equality of women, they point out the same to deny them equality thereby disrespecting the Vatican II Council, which stated that it would give equal rights to women. The Catholic Church merely talks about the rights of women, but without any action.

      U. S. people made change but the world Catholic leadership is refusing to make any change for the past 1300 years. When will the Pope make changes in Catholic religion?

Catholic religion is the largest religion in the world. A change in their attitudes will reflect in the whole world. When will the Pope change his attitudes and give liturgical rights to the Nuns?

When will the Pope make women’s equality in the Catholic religion?
